On Wednesday, February 15, at 1 p.m., the official handover of donations to the Emergency Aid Fund for Ukrainian Athletes of the DOSB and the German Sports Aid (DSH) took place. The donation in the form of a symbolic check was received at the University Sports Center by Olympic and European javelin champion Thomas Röhler as the official representative of the DOSB. One half of the donation is already being actively used to support local projects for Ukrainian refugees, while the other half, amounting to 2000 euros, will go to the Emergency Aid Fund for Ukrainian Athletes of the DOSB and German Sports Aid (DSH).

In addition to the financial assistance in the form of donations in kind and money, the Jena Unisport also offers integration opportunities for those affected. Thus, the Unisport initiated various exercise-promoting projects that provide war refugees in Jena with quick, unbureaucratic access to sports activities and create a social meeting place, such as the free provision of the UNISPORT Card or a regular weekly exercise meeting. In the meantime, many refugees regularly take advantage of these sports offers and/or are already members of the various club departments such as rhythmic gymnastics, boxing and soccer.
