The initiative “Welcome Unisport” is an association of volunteers to reach out to the refugees who have found a new home in apartments, refugee homes, gymnasiums and containers in Jena by using the integrative power of sport, and at least helps them to forget their daily worries and cares for a few hours a week through a diverse range of sports activities. In addition, the initiative is committed to enabling refugees to get in touch with the Jena population through sports courses in order to reduce fears and prejudices.
Programmes
In principle, all university sports and USV Jena programmes can be used by prior arrangement.
In addition, the initiative invites all sports enthusiasts to the Welcome Sport Meeting at the University Sports Centre (Oberaue 1) every Saturday from 5 pm. Here, too, there is the opportunity to play football together.
